I Love My Babies

So I put Jack in his crib to get Sophia ready for bed. I head to her room and call for her… she doesn’t come or answer… I head back into Jack’s room and here is what I find….

She then says, “Mommy he’s happy now… I love my little brother!”

Doesn’t that just melt your heart?

On a side note I go back to work on Wednesday and the kids start at their new school that day too… Whistle Stop Station. We have been up there a couple of times for Sophia to meet her teacher and kids in her class. I am really happy with the new school, nervous about starting them there, and going back to work. It will be a lot of new transitions and changes, but I know that they will be well taken care of and it will all be ok… as long as I keep preparing myself, it will all go smoothly… please keep us in your thoughts and prayers this week.

Little boy has a tooth that broke through on the bottom right!!! It's just barely there, with the second one on the bottom left peeking through as well!! I can't believe he has a tooth. He got his first tooth about a week and a half before Sophia got hers! My baby is getting too big too fast!

7 hours!

I just wanted to note for myself that my baby boy slept from 10:15 pm to 5:00 am! He gets a 5.5-6 oz bottle with rice in it at 10-10:30 but last night he was ready to eat at 9:45 and was asleep at 10:15!! -are still wearing a size one diaper

-are wearing some 0-3 month clothes, but mostly 3-6 month clothes

-love your pacifiers… thank goodness we discovered the Wubanub!!

-are nursing anywhere from 3-4 hours during the day and take a 5-6 oz bottle at 10:30 with rice and give mommy and daddy some sleep at night, buy sleeping from 11-5!!

-are smiling and cooing all the time… you have the sweetest gummy smile

-recognize Mommy, Daddy, and big Sister Sophia’s voice

-love when sister sings to you

-when you hear us, you search the room for us and smile when you see us

-hold your head up really well

-tolerate tummy time when placed on your boppy pillow

-love the lamb swing, bouncy chair and play mat

You are only two months old, but I couldn’t imagine life without you already. You and your sister are the light of my life… I love you more than the world is round. Bunches xoxo

Happy New Year 2012

This year was a bit different. We were out at the lake to celebrate Christmas with my brother and Audray. We got dressed and headed to the neighbor’s with my parents, brother and Audray, and the two little ones. We hung out there for a while, til about 10:30, then headed back to my parents to feed Jack, put Sophia in her pj’s and ring in the new year. I fed Jack one more time and we were asleep by 12:30!

Well we went to see Santa. We watched Santa. We talked to Santa from a distance. When it was time to sit on his lap…. she just would do it. It turned into a family photo this year. On the up side she did however tell him that she wanted a big pink car!! YAY!

Sophia’s 3 Year Stats

-sleep through the night for about 10 hours and take a nap anywhere from 2-4 hours

-started school for the first time, only to stay home with mommy and your new little brother, and you are about to start another new school at the end of January

-love to eat yogurts, cheese and crackers, ham and cheese lunchables, Quaker oats cereal, flavored water, McDonald’s chicken nuggets (with the breading peeled off,) Taco Bueno (chips n queso and chicken muchacos,) Starburst, PEZ, and Candy Corns (you finally finished them all off and you want to buy more but we have to wait until Halloween)

-LOVE LOVE LOVE to read books, you own a ton and you love going to the library to check out more

-know your ABC’s and can count to about 12 or 13 on your own

-love doing puzzles, playing with your baby Twinkle Toes, and your baby Rapunzel (Tangled is your favorite movie right now)

-love changing your clothes and picking them out yourself

-have just recently gotten into playing dress up and having dance parties!

-playing with your babies and changing their diapers

-sing You Are My Sunshine, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, and Jesus Loves Me every night

-tell me “it’s fine Mommy” when we disagree on something or I ask you to do something that you don’t want to do, when we have differing opinions, or when Mommy gets upset about something… you are so sweet and precious… making everything better

-love being a big sister to Jack… you love helping pick out his clothes, change his diaper, bring him toys, hold his bottle (when he gets one), bathe him, and hold his while singing him songs

You still seem to amaze me everyday. You are a toddler going on a beautiful little girl full of life, love, and laughter with a big, warm heart and blossoming personality. One of my best times of the day is when you wake up and want to cuddle in your bed and when you go to bed and tell me, “Mommy, I love you so much!”

Happy 3rd Birthday

This year we had Sophia’s 3rd birthday celebration at Chuck E Cheese! I just knew after having sweet little brother just a month ago that I would not want to host a birthday party at the house. It was super easy and so much fun. We just had family and close friends attend… and we still had about 3o people, but only about 9 kiddos. Sophia was so excited to have her party at Chuck E Cheese. It was a great decision. I can’t believe my little girl is THREE!!

It’s Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas

Well thanks to my mom, Zach, and Sophia we finally put the tree up at our house and my mom’s house. I am starting to feel like Christmas is here! I can’t believe it will be here in 19 days, let alone that in 10 days my little girl will be 3!!!

One Month Old

Jack at one month you:

-are eating every 3 hours during the day, 5 hours at night

-sleep from 11-4 at night (well most nights)

-wear size 1 diapers, 0-3 month clothes, but you are close to needing 3-6 month clothes because you are so long

-love your pacifier, you would be a thumb sucker by now if we let you

-are a noisy baby… you are always making little noises and sounds, whether you are awake or asleep

-love being swaddled in your swaddle blanket

-love being held tight and rocked

-are starting to loose your hair… hopefully you don’t loose it all

-have eyes that are a still a gray-blue color… I am hoping that you will get my eye color

-have great head control already, you can move it from side to side

-hate having a wet or dirty diaper, you definitely let us know when you need to be changed, and you almost always have a dirty diaper, which is very different from your sister

Most of all we, Mommy, Daddy, and big sister, Sophia, are loving every minute of you being in our lives. Its hard to believe that a month ago you were still not here yet, and now I can’t imagine you not being part of our family. We are truly blessed to have you as our son. We love you more than the world is round. Bunches. XOXO

Happy Thanksgiving

Well we loaded up the car on the Friday before Thanksgiving, it was the fullest it has ever been, with two kids, a mommy, a daddy, and a large puppy dog… and everything that each one of those people need. I wish I would have gotten a picture. Once we were loaded up, we raced to the lake, since I would have to nurse Jack as soon as we arrived at the lake.

We had a nice relaxing weekend with my parents at the lake before the craziness began on Sunday night. That’s when the family started to arrive and Zach went back to town to work for two days. I stayed at the lake with my parents and the kids. We had a great week at the lake with lots and lots of family. Here are some photos from the week.

Today was our first big outing. I had my doctor appt for my 2 week check up and my mom had an eye doctor appt. She has been able to take off some time to come and help me while Daddy had to go back to work. We got the kids ready and headed to my doctor appt. My mom stayed in the car, while the kids napped. Once my appt was over I hustled down to the car, pumped while my mom drove to her appt, then we got the kids out and headed in to her appt. Sophia and I gave Jack his first bottle.

The next day, Daddy and Sophia gave Jack another bottle. Sophia just loved being able to help feed her baby brother.

On the morning of November 2, 2011, we got up on our last day as a family of three, ate a yummy breakfast… well Zach and Sophia did, packed up the car and all of Sophia’s stuff to stay at Grandma and Grandpa’s for a few days. After we got Sophia all settled in at Grandma and Grandpa’s, we headed up to the hospital to get checked in. Once we got all settled my mom brought Sophia up to see us.

At about 5:30 they were ready to take me back for the c-section. WE WERE SUPER EXCITED TO MEET OUR NEWEST ADDITION.

Sophia meeting Jack for the first time. She was so super excited. She said, “Mommy, I want him!” Then she tried to pick him up and hold him.

The next few pictures of our stay at the hospital. It amazes me how much I already love my little man. He is such a wonderful baby. And I know that Sophia is going to be a great big sister.

Our last morning at the hospital. Sophia and my mom came to meet us so that Sophia could ride home with us. We also had a little brother for Sophia to take home as well, she especially loved the diaper bag full of baby doll necessities.

Happy Halloween

We went to meet up with Jeremy, Roxie and Little Miss Presley for some Halloween fun. We went for dinner first at Chuy’s (one of my favorite places to eat right now… mmmm creamy jalepeno ranch, queso, and tortillas.) After dinner we went to Prestonwood Baptist Church for the Fall Festival. It was super fun. They had activities for all ages of kids. We went to the preschool area to play games and trick or treat. We were able to get Sophia to put on her costume for just a few minutes. She was not very into wearing her costume this year. Maybe next year she will.

Movement: lots of little movements, as he is running out of space since we are nearing the last few final days!! He feels like he is way down low and under my ribs all at the same time!

What I miss: ENERGY, sleeping through the night, the freedom of movement!

Cravings: milk, OREOS, DIET COKES!!!

Symptoms: pain from Jack moving up into my ribs and now also living on my bladder and I do believe at moments he has started to move down so he can get ready to meet his Mommy, Daddy and Big Sister…. not much fun and I am super duper tired all the time… thank you third trimester.

Best moment this week: I am measuring almost 42 weeks now and I am hoping he is not as HUGE as my belly, but he is still safe and growing big in my belly. As of now we are scheduled to meet our little boy on November 2nd. Also I am fully enjoying Sophia asking, “How many more days mommy til I get to meet my baby? I am ready to meet my baby. Can I feel him Mommy? He must be swimming in there mommy!” She is just so adorable!!

Carving Pumpkins with Honey

Honey came over and brought pumpkins for Sophia to carve. Sophia of course was excited about the pumpkins, that is until we cut them open. She wanted nothing to do with the insides. She just kept telling us all that we need to clean out the goo. She did however enjoy using baby wipes to clean off the pumpkins. And of course putting the “light” inside to see them at night. She was super excited that Honey made her a Minnie Mouse pumpkin!

36 weeks

Size of baby: a crenshaw melon

Total weight gain/loss: 18 lbs… I have been able to maintain weight since last week I caught a stomach bug! So NOT fun when you are 8 1/2 months preggo!! And I am down a pound from last week… I was told it was nothing to worry about

Movement: lots of kicking and little punches… I think that he kicks and hits harder than Sophia did. He is very active first thing in the morning and late at night. He really likes being on my right side up under my ribs… which makes it very uncomfortable for me. He is starting to move down some but not enough that it is too uncomfortable… only at night when I have been on my feet all day.

What I miss: ENERGY, sleeping through the night, CAFFENINE

Cravings: KFC mashed potatoes and gravy…. DIET COKES!!!

Best moment this week: I had a sonogram and got to see little boy all squashed up inside. I am currently 36 weeks and he is measuring in length around 37 weeks. The technician estimated him to be at 6 lbs 5 oz. His heartbeat is 130. She also said that there is still fluid between his head and my cervix so he has not dropped and become engaged yet… he is still safe and growing big in my belly. As of now we are scheduled to meet our little boy on November 2nd.

The State Fair of Texas 2011

Tuesday we took a half a day off and met up with my mom to head out to the State Fair. Sophia was such a trooper since she did not get a nap that day. We had fun at the dog show and petting zoo. Sophia road a couple of rides with Grandma and Daddy. Her favorite was the Merry Go Round. We ate lots of food. Corn dog, funnel cake, french fries, jalepeno corn dog, fried mashed potatoes, fried frito pies, fried butter, buffalo chicken in a flapjack with jalepeno crumbles then fried with syrup, and dip n dots….. yep lots and lots of food. We got home that evening and we were all exhausted. Sophia was alseep at 6:15! It was a great day!

Cravings: Orange Cream Slush from Sonic, MILK, yogurt with fresh bananas and strawberries

Symptoms: pain from Jack moving up into my ribs…. not much fun and I am super duper tired all the time… thank you third trimester.

Best moment this week (or from last week) I went to see Dr. H last Wednesday for a check up when we discovered that I was measuring 32 weeks when I was in fact only 30 weeks. To make sure that everything was ok with baby Jack, I went back the next the day for a sonogram to see Jack. Well as it turned out… he was measuring 31 weeks 5 days when I should have been 30 weeks 1 day. He should have been measuring around 3 lbs, but was measuring 4 lbs. And everything is just perfect… he just might be big or we have the date wrong by two weeks! Dr. H was super swamped and he said we would talk at my next appointment about scheduling my c-section date. First Week of School

Play by play of the week…

Monday: She was so super excited about starting her new school. She had her new nap mat, back pack, and lunch box… don’t forget Buggie. Once we got inside, we hung up her “stuff” and filled up her cubbie. We did a little walk through of the room and it was time to go… Sophia immediately started to cry… and well so did I. I couldn’t stop myself… we were both sobbing. The director was so super sweet, she took Sophia from me and I just b-lined for the front door. Once outside Zach and I were talking… well he was mostly consoling me, the director came out and told me that she had already stopped crying… SUCCESS! The director called and told me she ate a great lunch and slept the whole nap time. Pick up was the best moment EVER. She couldn’t stop hugging me and telling me she loved me and missed me. IT WAS ONE OF THE SWEETEST MOMENTS EVER!!

Tuesday: Sophia woke up asking if it was a school day, and then began whining. It was a rough morning to say the least. Once we got to school she began crying, I however, was able to hold back my tears until I left her room. I was a wreck. She had a great second day.

Wednesday: Sophia again woke up and asked if it was a school day. So this time I showed her a calendar and we drew little school houses for school days and wrote Mommy and Daddy for Saturday and Sunday, or Mommy days according to Sophia. She was much better about leaving for school. Plus Ms. Tara told her that she could bring a book to share, which she was super excited about. She of course cried when I left, and I cried when I got to the car… improvement. BUT of course when I picked her up, she had a runny nose and a low grade fever. YUCK… 3 days of daycare and we have a cold. BOO!

Thursday: Repeat of Wednesday, with the new added comments all morning about how she doesn’t like me when I have to work… it breaks my heart.

Friday: Repeat… except this time I didn’t cry until I talked to my mom on the phone. Ms. Tara told me that Sophia really enjoys using the little potty and she is always front and center wanting to help, read, and learn. She also said that she talks non-stop and that she talks really well… yes I am bragging… I JUST ADORE EVERYTHING ABOUT MY LITTLE SWEET SOPHIA!

This week has been a lot better. Minus this morning… Sophia had lots of crying… but the mornings at home are getting easier now that we have a bit of a routine. I hope that she continues to do well at school and enjoy being there. She is finally starting to talk about school and some of the kids that are “nice” and her two teachers that she really seems to like. She loves being able to bring books to share with her friends at school. I keep telling myself that this is good for her development socially and academically for her to be around other students. And on an upside… she is finally starting to feel better. Yay!

I must add a quick side note… a HUGE thank you to my husband who has been very supportive of his crazy pregnant, emotional wife the past two weeks… I wouldn’t have gotten through them without him. Also one to my mom, who calms me down every morning after dropping Sophia off and for coming over a couple of nights to see Sophia and make her days special. I LOVE YOU BOTH MORE THAN WORDS! xoxo

Best moment this week: My mom getting to feel Jack kick! Here’s hoping Zach and Sophia do soon. I looked back to see when Zach felt Sophia and I was 26 weeks, so hopefully he feels his son kick this week.

Florida 2011

We went to Florida again this year with Zach’s parents. It was a nice relaxing time at the beach and pool with a little bit of cooler temperatures. Sophia of course did great again on all her flights… yes all her flights, we had connecting flights, but she was a trooper! Here are some photos from the week.

PHILLY TRIP 2011

My mom, Zach, Sophia and I went to Philly to visit family. We had a great time. We even got to celebrate my cousin, Michael’s engagement. Zach and I went to a Phillies game, ate all the good cheesesteaks at all the right places and went out one night to a comedy show with my cousin, Nicole and her husband Ryan. We got to see both my Aunts and my grandfather. Sophia was such a trooper and did really well on both of the flights and staying at my Aunt’s in Center Philly. Thanks to everyone there and Grandma for a great trip!

This year of course we went out to the lake for the 4th for my parents party they have every year, and this was the first time in 11 years that Larry wasn’t able to do fireworks due to the dry, dry heat we are having this year. But we had quite the crowd this year. My brother and Audray, we had family from Illinois in town, my cousins and their two kids, and Jeremy, Roxie and sweet Presley. There was lots of eating, playing and swimming and turtle hunts. All the kids were great. Instead of fireworks the kids played with glow-sticks… not nearly as much fun as fireworks, but they still had a blast.

She was such a good girl! She stayed for 10 innings… I think that Mommy and Grandma were more tired than she was on the way home.

Oh my goodness my sweet little baby girl is now 2 1/2 years old. I feel like it was just yesterday that I was having her. She is no longer a baby, as she tells me, she is a big girl. She amazes me everyday. I love every minute that I get to spend with her. She is so much fun to be around, always happy, loving and full of energy with a beautiful, little blossoming personality.

BOY!!!!!!

We are so thrilled that Baby #2 is a boy.

We went to the doctor yesterday afternoon with Sophia, my mom, and Zach’s mom. They were just thrilled to be seeing the sonogram. The technician checked out every little part of the baby. Everything checked out just perfect. His, so exciting to say, heartbeat was 158 bpm. After all little parts were checked it was time for the big reveal…. and it was definitely obvious the baby is a boy. We all screamed, “YAY!!! IT’S A BOY!!!”

Sophia then said, “Oh no, Mommy, I wanted a gurl!!” She was quite close to crying, but once we told her she could dress him and play with him, she was great! Zach even has her calling the baby “Spiderman.” I must say we are ALL very excited… Next step is picking out his name….. and of course getting his room ready. I am excited about decorating for a boy.

First Day of Summer

Today was Sophia and Zach’s first day home together. The went to the library for story time and craft time. Came home and made lunch, took a nap, and then had a dance party. And… we (Zach) started potty training today. Only one peepee accident and of course a little melt down because Sophia refuses to go #2 on the potty. Any suggestions on how to make that transition???? Overall, a very successful day.

My First Rangers Game

So we finally made it to Sophia’s first Rangers Game last night. She was so excited. She was such a little trooper. She did lots of walking and playing. She even got a new purple Rangers hat.

The view from our seats. I must say our seats were perfect since we bought this package for $40 for a fundraiser. We got 4 free tickets and 6 buy one get one free tickets. So I imagine since she was sooo good we will be going again.

She was such a good girl. She was great on the way home too…. and no she didn’t sleep the whole way home, she only fell asleep about 15 minutes before we got home. I carried in and put her in bed. I thought I would have to read, say prayers and sing our songs, but she just rolled right over and was out all night long. She even slept in til 8:30!!!

Memorial Day 2011

So there is soooo much to write about for Memorial Day weekend. Friday we headed out to my parents lake house and went to dinner with my parents and my cousin and his family. Tyler, his wife Jaime, and their 6 month old son Nolan were in town for their first family vacation. After dinner we got back and my other cousin, Matt, his wife Claudia and their 4 month old son, Aaron came to visit. We had so much fun playing with the little ones. Sophia really enjoyed the boys and also LOVED playing mommy with her babies.

Saturday, Honey and Pops came, we hung around, made a yummy breakfast, went on several golf cart rides, which entail turtle hunts this time of year (don’t worry we don’t hurt them we just search for them,) spent several hours in the pool, Sophia and Honey planted flowers, ate a yummy dinner, played and had bath time with Sophia and Nolan. I didn’t think that I would be able to do two kiddos but after watching Nolan for a bit so Tyler and Jaime could pack, I know I am ready.

She just loves watching them and reading their books. I also just love when she tells me that she needs to kiss her baby and she pulls up my shirt and hugs and kisses my belly… it is sooo precious.

Mitchell Baby #2

Yes, that’s right!!!! You read that correctly. Sophia is going to be a big sister November 9, 2011.

Now that the important information is out. I just want to write about some important memories of this pregnancy so far.

Back at the end of February, I was starting to feel very sluggish, SUPER tired, VERY nauseous, and my clothes were getting VERY snug. We had been trying for such a long time to conceive this time around that I thought for sure I was just getting sick and I need to start dieting AGAIN! A couple of days before I missed my period, February 28th, I went ahead an took a pregnancy test, POSITIVE… still unsure, I took another one the following morning… POSITIVE again, and Zach wanting to be super sure, I took another one that night… POSITIVE. I called my doctor the following day March 2nd and went in for blood work and a urine test… POSITIVE… YAY, YIPPEE we were thrilled. My progesterone levels were a bit low, so they put me on a supplement to make sure that they stayed in the correct ranges for the first trimester.

We waited a couple of days to tell our parents. My parents were out of town and I wanted to tell them in person. So in the mean time… we told Sophia… she seemed to understand that there was a baby and she wanted to see its feet… so CUTE! We also went out and got her a big sister shirt to wear when we told our parents. She seemed to understand that she will be a big sister too. Of course our parents and family are thrilled to be getting another grandbaby and niece or nephew.

We went to see Dr. Herzog over Spring Break. I was 6 weeks and we got to see the first glimpse of our little bean sprout and hear the heart beat for the first time. Everything was great. Our little bean sprout had a good strong heartbeat, 111 bpm.

At this point I was already wearing my maternity bottoms, but not having to wear any maternity tops yet. Around 6 weeks I started to feel very nauseous and had a hard time getting through the afternoons and evenings. Thankful I have a wonderful husband who took sweet Sophia to the park almost every afternoon so that I could take a power nap after school and he even took care of dinner almost every night. It was also very helpful that Sophia was very understanding that “the baby” was making Mommy tired and she would come and sit with me and “rest” too.

Some of the great things from Sophia about her new baby… she definitely wants a little sister and NOT a little brother. She gets angry and corrects me, Daddy and Grandma when we talk about the baby as if he is a boy. She says, “No, it’s a girl.”

We are hoping for a little boy this time around. I have a feeling that it will be a boy, simply because this pregnancy is SOOO different than when I was pregnant with Sophia. But of course we just want a happy, healthy baby that was a wonderful as Sophia. AND… the Chinese calendar says we are having a boy… so we will be finding out, hopefully very soon.

I went back to see Dr. Herzog at 11 weeks. Everything was perfect. I was able to stop taking my progesterone supplement and we heard our little bean sprout’s heartbeat again, 169 bpm. Nice and loud and strong!!

Our next appointment is May 25th… I am hoping for a sonogram, but I am not scheduled for one… keep your fingers crossed we just might get to find out what our little bean sprout is!!!

Finding all the eggs the Easter bunny left… She was so cute. She kept asking, “Where is the Easter bunny, Mommy?”

Later before we headed home, we had to clear out the upstairs at the lake for my mom to get her floors refinished. Sophia had the best time running about screaming and playing with Jordan.
