Prayers Needed

I don't normally post asking for prayers, but I know many people that check in on Sophia.
Today as I was reading a friend of a friends blog, I read about Noah, a 5 month old little boy that was shaken by his daycare. He is in need of prayers. I can't imagine what this family is going through, as Sophia is around the same age. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.

Updates!

So there is a lot to catch up on. First... no more nursing!! I have mixed feelings about this. I planned and wanted to nurse Sophia up until August if not until December so that she would have the breast milk for her whole first year, but that is not the case. Sophia got her two bottom teeth super early, at 3 months!! I know it is CRAZY, but now the teeth have been in for about a month and a half and they are more grown in now and razor sharp... so she starting biting me about two weeks ago and I cut back on nursing and began pumping. As with the pump, not as much milk, I have continously gotten less and less. So I was only nursing Sophia first thing every morning. I love that time with her, she is always so happy and cuddly first thing in the morning. Well two days ago she started chomping down in the am too. She likes to knaw on things to sooth her teeting ( I think she is about to get some more teeth.) I am happy to now share the morning feedings with my wonderful husband and maybe catch a few more zzz's in the am, but I sad to give up that special bonding time I had with my daughter. So we are moving right through the rest of the stored up milk and most likely by next week will be on all formula!! I at least know that I gave her 4 1/2 almost 5 months of the best thing for her.

I also wanted to tell you about a beautiful gift that Sophia and I received from a family friend. I had been wanting a necklace with Sophia's name on it for mother's day, and a family friend got me this beautiful heart necklace with her name on it as well as a pearl that dangles next to it. I absolutely love it. She also got Sophia a beautiful spoon engraved with her name on it. She gave me the website that she ordered them on, check it out.

This isn't really a good picture of the spoon, but it is ingraved with SOPHIA MARIE, you will have to check out the website.

4 Month Wellness Check Up!

Yesterday Sophia had her 4 month wellness checkup. She was such a good little girl. I had to wake her from a short nap that she got on the way to the doctors, but she always wakes up with SMILE!!

Here are her stats for 4 months!

Head circumference: 41 cm -50th percentile
Weight: 13 lbs 3.5 oz -50th percentile
Height: 26.5 cm - above the 97th percentile

She's long and skinny with a perfect little round head!!!

Waiting patiently!

With Daddy!

After the appointment she fell asleep in her carseat at my mom's house, with the paci stuck in the side of her mouth, she enjoys chewing on it now, not sucking... that is what her thumb is for.... well Mommy and Daddy's fingers too!

4 Months Old!

Sophia at 4 months!!

  • you still eating every 3 hours during the day
  • you just started eating rice cereal... only about 1 tablespoon
  • you now take an 8 oz bottle before bed
  • you sleep from about 7 or 7:30 to 6 am!! You are a good sleeper... just like your mommy and daddy!
  • you still love bath time... it soothes you
  • you still LOVE sucking your thumb
  • you can now roll over from you back to your tummy, from both sides, but you prefer to roll on her right side, and you can roll from your tummy to back, but you sometimes get very upset if you can't roll back over fast enough
  • every morning before we leave for school, you play in your exer-saucer and you love playing with the book
  • you love your bedtime routine, you know after bath time and getting into our pj's its time for your bottle... you do not like to stop drinking, you suck it all down as fast as you can!
  • You love books, especially the pictures... I think she is going to be a reader like Zach! YAY!!
  • I can't believe how big you are getting, you are still wearing your size 1 diapers but you are wearing your 3-6 months clothes, and you are almost growing out of your 3-6 month sleepers... you are a long little girl.
We go for Sophia's 4 month wellness checkup on Monday... I can't wait to find out how long she is... and I am glad that Zach will be able to meet us so he can hold Sophia for her shots!

Cereal Time!!

So on Monday I called the doctor to ask about starting Sophia on rice cereal. She informed me that this would not be a problem, to think small amounts, to remember that most of the cereal will come right back out her mouth and to not get frustrated with her not swallowing the food right away.
Zach and I got the high chair put together on Sunday night in preparation for Monday. We continued our normal routine, so when I got home I nursed Sophia then we put her in her high chair, which she absolutely loves, and got ready for day one of cereal. I made the cereal very liquidy on the first attempt, per what the box says, and of course most came right back out. Day 2 I made the cereal a bit less liquidy and we had a bit more success. So on to today, Day 3 and I made the cereal a bit thicker, and we had even more success!! She might actually be getting the hang of it all.
On another note, little miss will be 4 months old tomorrow! I will write more about that later on tomorrow!

Happy girl!! I think she likes it!

Happy Easter

Thursday after school got out, Zach and I packed up the car to head out to the lake for part of the weekend. My family was doing Easter dinner on Saturday afternoon so that we could go to church on Sunday and then to Zach's grandmothers for lunch. We had a nice relaxing weekend there, and headed back on Saturday night so that Zach could go meet up with his brother and friends for his 30th birthday. HAPPY 30th BIRTHDAY UNCLE MATT!!

Aunt KK (Carol) Jordan and Sophia

Making the bunny house with Jordan! Sophia enjoyed watching and looking at all the colors!

Jordan and the finished product!

Grandpa, Jordan, and Sophia getting a little playtime in... Sophia was chewing on Jordan's fingers!

Now on to Grandpa's fingers!

I think she out grew the the swing at the lake... she can pull herself forward and possibly fall out... so no more swing at the lake :(

Grandma and Aunt KK cooking Easter dinner... and my mom discovered how wonderful the baby bjorn is!!! I love it too... handsfree!

Sophia's FIRST EASTER DINNER at the BIG TABLE!! She sat in the high chair for the first time for Easter dinner.... she enjoyed playing with her toys and being up with everyone at the table.

Playtime with Uncle Matthew!!!

CHEESE!!

Happy girl!

Matt and Claudia Klump with Sophia

Naptime... tummy time!!

Getting her nighttime bottle from her favorite cousin... Jordy man!!

Also have to comment about her bottles... Sophia is very close to holding her bottle on her own. When she sees it, she has to have it. She fights to get it. Yesterday she started wanting to eat about every 2 1/2 hours and at 3:30 she nursed for 20 minutes she also ate 4 oz of formula. Then at 6:15 she was hungry all over again. We held her off for 30 more minutes and fed her 8 oz of formula at her night time feeding and she drank it all. She did this again today so I think it is time for ceral. So now I have even more questions.... when do I give her the ceral? I want to feed her and not have the sitter have this job, so it needs to be in the evening. Will that work? Do I nurse first? What kind of ceral do I give her? How much do I give her? Is it to early? OMG... and we don't go to the doctor until next Monday... so do I wait or do I call the doctor tomorrow... any advice is welcome.

HAPPY EASTER!!

Guess What I Can DO!!!!

So today is a typical day and I leave work to go and pick up Sophia. When I get there she is still napping, which is a good thing. After we leave and get home, she finishes her nap while I unpack and clean bottles, and then pack her to go and stay at Grandma and Grandpa's (my parents.) My mom is keeping her tonight for us, so we have a break.
So I proceed to wake her up from her nap, yes I know never wake a sleeping baby, but I do for feedings! So she eats and then I put her down next to me on the couch, and yes I am watching her.... and here is where her big trick comes in to play.... SHE ROLLED OVER all by herself!!!! We kept watching her do her new trick over and over.
We then decided it was time to head over to my moms where she did her new trick over and over some more. She even rolled over while changing her diaper.
After dinner Zach and I left to come home, and on the way home my mom calls to tell me that she is asleep, and yes she rolled over on to her tummy!! O MY... so now I am wondering if we should be sleeping on her tummy since all the books and doctors say they should be sleeping on their backs. Any suggestions are welcome! So my sweet baby is 3 months 3 weeks and 2 days and she is ROLLING OVER!! Here are some pictures capturing the second roll over!! Now we really can't leave her alone!!!

Learning New Tricks

Saturday morning Zach put together Sophia's Baby Einstein Activity Center, or as I called it her excersaucer. Sophia loved it. It keeps her entertained for a good while. She already figured out that she can move herself around to all the toys. She really likes the book with a mirror on it... she even got to turning the pages on it... which I am sure was just a fluke but it was super cute.

I also got her some new shades with a head strap to keep them on. I want her to learn early to wear the sunglasses to protect her eyes... she tolerated them a lot more than I had anticipated.... YAY!!
