Philly Trip

Last Thursday my mom, S, and I packed up and headed to Philly to see our family. We got to the airport early, made it through the security check point with ease, set up shop with some chairs and a pretty clean area for S to play. She even had lunch in the airport. Finally the time arrives to board and we are delayed due to weather in Philly. Yes delayed an hour. We board, we find out we are delayed for another hour. S sleeps for 45 minutes and she wakes and gets her bottle and we finally take off. She did wonderful! We arrived 2 hours after our scheduled arrival time. If not for the delays it would have been perfect... but my sweet little angel was PERFECT on the flight!

So BIG!

On the plane ready to take off!

We arrived in Philly unloaded at my Aunt Judi and Uncle Albert's and had the traditional meal, Spaghetti. Since I can remember my Mammaw always made this for dinner the night we arrived in Philly, so my Aunt continued the tradition.
Friday for lunch we met Bobbies, my grandfather, and his wife Lois and her two granddaughters for lunch downtown at Table 31. It was yummy and a lot of fun.

Saturday we packed up and headed out to my cousin Chris's house to spend some time in the pool with all the family. It was a lot of fun. It reminded me of when I was little and we would go see my grandparents and spend the days at the pool in their backyard. We drank beer, swam, grilled out and enjoyed time with the family.

Luke being such a great helper... he was soooo good with her!

Sunday we relaxed in the AM at Judi and Albert's then headed to my other Aunt's house, Aunt Pat and Uncle Dennis. Luke and Abby were there to play as well. We enjoyed playing in the kids play room, S thoroughly enjoyed the play time with the kids.

Monday we relaxed and Aunt Judi and Uncle Albert's. Bobbies came as well. We ran a few errands and S entertained us all day. She is a little girl on the move.... we are very close to standing on our own... and boy does she love it!

Tuesday we got all packed up to head home. S played, we watched, Aunt Judi and I ran a couple of errands. I even got a cheesesteak to bring home for my bro... he is super excited about eating it this weekend. (I had to freeze it, so I hope it is still good for him.) Our flight was later that night. We again go to the airport early, made it through security, fed S her dinner, finally got on the plane, and we were delayed yet again on the tar mat for an hour. AAAHHH.... S was super good, she fell right asleep and even slept through the take off, slept almost the whole flight and woke up the last hour. She was PERFECT yet again. We made up a lot of time in the air and ended up being only 30 minutes late.

Uncle Al and S... he loved sitting and watching her play!

Aunt Judi and S... her favorite thing was standing at the front door watching the cars and people walk by... it would entertain her for such a long time!

We were very happy to see Daddy, she was so HAPPY to see him, all smiles. We had a fabulous trip and we love and miss all our family in Philly. We hope to see them all again really soon!

Popsicle

Well, I know I said I wasn't going to post until I got back from Philly, but S is teething yet again... I do believe we are getting a TOP tooth!!! Hopefully she will be okay on the plane, please pray for us.
But, back to Popsicles... I thought that it would be great on her teeth, and yes it was a hit. I know what your thinking, but don't worry they are SUGAR FREE!!
In the pics she is very upset, she had been crying a whole lot, but once she got a hold of the orange popsicle she was good to go!

Her first taste... She was a bit angry... you can see it in her face!

Checking it out!!

I think she likes it!!!

Blog Hop Tuesday.. Recipes

This is my new favorite recipe... I got it from my friend Roxie... we always get great thanks for this dessert... BUTTERFINGER CAKE!!

It is really, really simple.

Recipe:
1 box of milk chocolate cake
1 can of sweetened condensed milk
1 tub of cool whip
6-8 small butterfingers

Now just follow the cake recipe on the back of the box. After this is finished baking and has cooled completely, poke holes all over the cake, you will want a lot. Afterwards pour on the condensed milk, all of it like icing on the cake. Next put the cool whip over top as the icing. I prefer to heat up the cool whip and whip it into a smoother consistency. Then crunch up the butterfinger and sprinkle on top. (I have never used a different topping but I am sure that Snickers or Oreo would be yummy too!)

Weekend Getaway

This past weekend we headed out to my parents lake house for a long relaxing weekend. Our friends Jeremy and Roxie and their 3 week old little one Presley headed out with us as well. We had a lot of fun being lazy, or as lazy as you can with a 7 month old on the "crawl" and a brand new little one. It was nice to help Roxie with Presley to let her catch up on some sleep and remember the days of when S was that little, which seems like forever ago. They really do just grow right before your eyes. Sophia started a new crawl, with one leg up and one on the floor. She also likes to do a bit of a bear crawl, no knees on the floor... Oh my I think walking is right around the corner!!

Daddy, S and Christopher playing in the baby pool!

Aunt Roxie blowing out her b-day cake that I made for her. Her b-day is this Wed.

Grandma and Matthew playing with Presley

S was so very interested in Presley we let her get a closer look with out grabbing a hold of her.

Little Miss Presley chillin while Aunt Jesse and Grandma Leslie watch her so Mommy Roxie can get a good nap in!

She loves this toy so that she can pull up and bang bang bang to make some more noise!

Uncle Matthew giving S her baba

Me, Uncle Matthew, and S still getting her bottle. She is starting to like him a bit more!

Later on Saturday afternoon, we finally worked it out so that we could get a little photo shoot of the two girls together. We even got them matching outfits. As you can imagine Presley was so super easy to handle, she slept straight through the shoot, however my little princess was again ever so eager to get her hands on Presley. She was trying to crawl all over the place. We did manage to get a few good shots. I think that I am in need of a new camera, one that will not have such a long waiting period before capturing the moment. I am going to start researching some, so any suggestions are welcome! Here are the photos of the girls!

Princess and Little Miss together!

S is 7 months and P is 3 weeks!

So we got a little experimental and let Sophia sit and we put Presley in her lap and it couldn't have been any cuter... Sophia gave her a HUGE kiss on the head!
I just know they are going to be great friends!!

Grandpa caught a BIG one late Saturday night... I think it is bigger than Presley. HA!

Sunday after everyone left, my mom and I got to cleaning. Sophia was a HUGE help. She helped fold laundry, make beds, and empty the dish washer. It was nice to have everyone at the lake house, but I enjoyed the afternoon with my mom even though we were cleaning!

Sunday, chillin on the dining room table while Mommy and Grandma folded laundry!

And here she is helping us empty the dishwasher.

**on another note, I will not be posting for a little while as my mom, S and I are going to Philly to see family. I am excited and nervous all at the same time. This will be the first time S is on a plane. We leave in the afternoon on Thursday. Any advice for flying with an infant?????

7 months

OMG!! My baby is 7 months old. She is into everything, and I mean everything.

At 7 months you.....

  • crawl super fast
  • pull up on everything
  • you even check to be sure you don't bump your head before pulling up
  • you can sit yourself down from standing
  • you move around furniture while standing
  • you desperately want to stand on your own and walk
  • you love swimming in the big pool but you like being able to crawl around in the baby pool
  • you have discovered your pink lovey... every morning and nap time after you wake up you are holding it and smiling from ear to ear
  • you are still wearing 3-6 month clothes, with occasional 6-9 month clothes
  • you still wear a size 2 diaper, but will soon be in size 3
  • you sleep from 7-7 and take two 2 hour naps
  • you still take a bottle every 3 hours
  • you eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner
  • you prefer veggies over fruits
  • you just got your first taste of zucchini and zucchini squash, and you liked it
  • you did not like plums and nectarines... but we're going to try again soon
  • you chew on celery, biter biscuits, and Cheerios, you also like tortillas and pizza crust... but then again who doesn't
  • you love to listen to yourself talk, you are very loud little girl like your mommy and grandma
  • you love being with people, you don't like being left behind in a room, you follow us everywhere
  • you are light of your Daddy's life and we couldn't love you more

NO A/C

So our air went out Tuesday morning and by 12:00 it was 90 degrees in our house. We have a home warranty for the house, so Zach made a phone call and the earliest that someone could come out to the house was today Thursday between 12 and 5 pm. That is the worst when they give you a time frame like that and you have to sit and wait. Thankfully they will call an hour before they are on the way to the house so that Zach doesn't have to sit in the heat.
So Tuesday we headed over to my mom's house to set up camp for a few days. We have had a lot of fun hanging out with Grandma and Grandpa. Here are a few pics from the past couple of days.

Tuesday night we went to dinner with Grandma and S had her first taste of cooked carrots.

Later at getting ready for bath time S crawled around in her birthday suit!

And into the bathroom to get into the tub!

Wednesday morning breakfast with Grandpa in bed!
