Show Us Where You Live Friday.... Guest Room Edition

So I am in the same boat as Kelly, this is the room in my house that is the least put together. It is the guest room and the storage room (especially the closet.) I have my old bed from when I was single as well as the dresser and night stands. I do love my bed spread in this room (and the sheets are super fabulous!)

This is also the smallest room... but it works for guests!
Here is the rest of my cross collection as well. There is another blank wall and I do have a picture for it, however when we moved two years ago, but the glass broke in the move and it just isn't that high on the to do list to get done!
I am looking forward to next weeks dining rooms!!! I hope you all have a great weekend!

P.S. I also posted this on Friday since Sophia was asleep and tomorrow night we are super busy cleaning the house for everyone to come over after Sophia's Baptism!!!! I can't wait!

Happy Mother's Day!

Today was my first Mother's Day! It was FABULOUS! We woke up early with Sophia around 7. Zach and Sophia gave me this super cute Mother's Day coupon booklet! There is a lot of great redeemable items and chores for my husband to do around the house. We ate a great breakfast and lounged around in our pj's until around 11 when we got dressed to head over to Zach's mom's for lunch.

He was pretty creative!

This one I can't wait to use!

After lunch we did a little family shopping at Target. I got some green beans, sweet potatoes, and butternut squash to make Sophia some homemade baby food this week. I looked for some prunes, but they did not have fresh ones, so I had to buy some Gerber baby prunes.
On the issue of Sophia and her constipation, today was the worst. She was very fussy and was trying so hard, bless her little heart, but had a very hard time today. She just wanted to be held and rocked. That part I enjoyed, she was very cuddly today.
Here are some cute photos from this weekend.

Her new favorite position. She is ready to be crawling... she moves herself around very well without crawling!

Cheering on the Mavericks, sadly no luck in that... here's hoping they win game 4 to stay in it! You can't really tell, but this is her cute pink Maverick's onesie, it has a basketball on her butt!

Sitting with Pooh Bear at Roxie and Presley's shower, chewing on some yummy celery.

This week we are super busy we have dinner at my Mom's tomorrow since we have some family in town, cleaning up the house to get ready for Sophia's 5 month pictures done by a friend from college who does photography, heading out to see the King Tut display and Sophia's baptism next Sunday! Yikes that is a lot. I can't wait! Hope everyone has a great week!

Show Us Where You Live Friday.... Living Room Edition

Its here again. Show Us Where You Live Friday.... Living Room Edition.

This is the small hall from the kitchen to the living room. I love my crosses here. I had a large collection when I was single. I split up the collection when we bought our house. The rest of them are in the spare bedroom.

This is the view into the living room from the kitchen. (We were watching LOST) You can also tell from the pictures that Sophia has taken over our living room. Pack in play straight and toy bag straight ahead and to the right, exersaucer and bouncy seat. Last week we put away the swing, it was Sophia's least favorite activity. I thought about putting up Sophia's baby stuff, but then figured that this is how we live everyday so I thought I would so that side of our lives.... it is not always clean... it is however well loved and lived in!

This is a bit closer of the large wall in our living room (the picture that is in my kitchen used to hang on this wall) I got the pictures at Garden Ridge and the shelves at Lowes.
I am still trying to figure out what all I want to put up on my shelves, but Zach loves his books, he has his own office full of books and comic book toys! ( I will have to include that in another post later) Any ideas of what else to add to my shelves are welcome.

View from the front door. You can kind of see more of Sophia's toys from here. There they are! I also love my fireplace screen, which is from Plow and Hearth, but I bought it on Amazon for a much cheaper price. I also love the quilt rack that I recieved for a gift, but I know you can also find them on Amazon.

Mantle with my bargain mirror that I purchased when I was single from Wal-mart for $30!!! Can you tell that I love family photos???

View of the living room from the office... which leads to our back yard. You can also see the sofa table behind the large couch that leads back to the bedrooms. The mirrors are from back when Zach was single, so yes, we did keep some of his stuff when we got married. Plus our fabulous couches were his... you sit down and sink in to them... and all you want to do is nap! We love them.Sofa table, with more family and friends! Plus my digital photo frame that I got from Zach and my mom this year for my birthday. I love that too... it holds so many photos!

One of the end tables (wanted to show you one of the other crosses)... and the baby monitor... man her stuff is everywhere!!!

Lastly the bar that is behind the love seat. It is again filled with family and friends. I also collect Willow Tree Angels. I don't know if you can see them that well in this photo, but I love them.

Well there it all is... the living room. I hope you enjoyed the pictures! See you next week!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

Prunes??

Well Sophia has been a very constipated little lady these days... again... so my pediatrician suggested trying 2-4 ounces of juice a day to help get her started instead of the glycerin suppositories every three days. Well the juice did NOT help at all. We tried it for two weeks. Apple juice, pear juice and peach juice. We tried it cold, diluted with water, not diluted, and warm.... NOPE she was not a fan. She was only going once a week still. So I called yesterday to ask what we can try next. PRUNES!! Yikes. I really want to make my own baby food for Sophia, and I really wanted to start her on veggies before fruits... but I am learning that with a baby you cannnot plan for anything... you have to go with the flow... OF YOUR BABY!!
So I ran out to the store yesterday and picked up some prunes. I did taste them, not too bad. So after Sophia's 4 o'clock bottle and did cereal and some prunes. She didn't seem to mind them. She made some faces since it was a new taste, but overall pretty good yesterday and today. I am however thinking that she should start eating first and then get her bottle so she will be more interested in the food rather than the bottle. The mention of her bottles brings me to the sad fact that today was her last day of breast milk. I just hope that she got enough from me to help build up her immune system.
Also I am wondering if anyone makes their own baby food. I did find a good website that teaches you how to do it, but any suggestions would be great. The site I found is wholesomebabyfood.com.

mmmmm..... PRUNES!

Spider-Girl!!

As many of you know my husband is a die-hard Marvel Comic book fan! Well really all comic books... Star Wars... Star Trek... all of them! He got Sophia a Spider-man onesie way back when I was just barely pregnant.... as I am sure he was hopeful of a boy... we got Sophia. So I got her a cute jean skirt to match it and of course a bow to match!
This was us out running some errands after church this morning... she was taking a serious nap, you can tell by her expression while sleeping!

Here we took a little photo shoot of her all dolled up in her Spider-man outfit... I wonder what Daddy will want his little princess to be for Halloween :)

BIG SMILES!!

Such a big girl now.... she holds her bottles all by herself!!

I hope everyone has a safe and healthy week.

Show Us Where You Live Friday... Kitchen Edition

I am an avid reader of our friend Chris's sister's blog, Kelly, and she started a Show Us Where You Live Fridays (or weekends) this week and this week we started showing off our kitchens.

My kitchen is probably my favorite room, let alone my most put together room of my house. Excuse our mess, but enjoy the pics and tour!

When we moved in 2 years ago, the kitchen was wallpapered and that had to go. We textured the walls and painted them red. It was a long process, but very much worth it.... I love it!
This is where we occasionally eat. Sophia now eats here everyday for her evening cereal! She loves her high chair. You can also see our window seat, where usually all of Sophia's things are, but I moved them for the picture. Also I got the pictures on the wall from my mom several, several years ago and I finally put them up this past summer and I love those too. The hutch behind the table is where Zach keeps his "junk." Don't worry I have a place for mine too!
This is my beautiful red wall, with my clock that I love, but I need to put new batteries in so that you can actually tell the time.

I finally got some nick-nacks recently to go above our cabinets. The picture I purchased a long time ago, when I was still single, and it used to hang in our living room, but I had decided it went much nicer in my kitchen, and I love that too! I got the other vases at Garden Ridge, which is great place to get great deals for decorating.
Ahh, here you can see my pile of "junk" on this counter, next to the most used item in the kitchen, the coffee maker, one of Zach's favorite wedding gifts! You can also see on the far side my bottle dryer rack... again very useful and now part of my decor!

The window nook above the sink, with my plant that I have surprisingly not killed yet. I got it in the hospital when I had Sophia, I hope I can keep it alive. Also you might notice the super old armadillo, I purchased it for my grandmother when I was a child, and kept it after she passed away. I always think of her every morning when I see it!

My one super organized cabinet. Can you guess who it belongs to? Yes, of course Little Miss Sophia. All things that have to do with Sophia are organized and clean! I try to keep as much of the kitchen as clean as possible, but with a new little one, I would much rather spend my time with her than cleaning as I sure that most of you understand.

And of course I had to post a picture of Sophia. She was leaving with Grandma Charlie so that Mommy and Daddy could have a date night... dinner and a movie. Wolverine... it was a bit disappointing. I know weird of me to say, but being married to a man who loves comic books, you also grow to love and enjoy them, and this one could have been better in my book. Enjoy. I am looking forward to touring everyone's kitchens to get some ideas for mine.

Prayers Needed

I don't normally post asking for prayers, but I know many people that check in on Sophia.
Today as I was reading a friend of a friends blog, I read about Noah, a 5 month old little boy that was shaken by his daycare. He is in need of prayers. I can't imagine what this family is going through, as Sophia is around the same age. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.
